BUTTER is a brand spanking new comix magazine brought to you by editors Jas Hice (Szarlotka, Final Repose) and Cam del Rosario (Vacation, Gutter Boys Podcast). Each issue will highlight hardworking talent from around the world tackling an issue-specific theme. We are so ecstatic & proud to bring this first issue to you featuring stories and tales of URBAN LEGENDS from some of today's most talented cartoonists.
The first issue features 70+ pages of all new sequential art from Abe Lampbert, Chaddy Ann, Andrew White, Karl Stevens, MD Blue, John Sammis, Katie Skelly, Flannery Cashill, as well as ourselves. Each artist approached and interpreted the subject with their own intuition & instincts which resulted in an olio of tales holding your hand and leading you through genuinely silly, surreal, and esoteric terrains. With your help, you can ensure that we realize the potential of this publication and get it out into the world where it deserves to be.
Along with all the comix inside, we are also lucky enough to have an opening essay from Evan Salazar, a cover and illustration from Mary Harvey, endpages by Drew Hall, and impeccable book design from Kelsey Borch. We are also handing the reigns of printing over to Sean Knickerbocker (CCS alum and editor of Rust Belt Review) at Bookmobile Printing to ensure that we have a trusted and watchful eye over every step of this process.
BUTTER #1 features these contributions:
Karl Stevens - The City
Abe Lampert - select cartoons
Mary Harvey - Untitled
Katie Skelly - Bloody Mary
Chaddy-ann Newton - Strange Ride
